ECHA Adds 3 New Substances to SVHC Candidate List, Total Now 250

On June 25, 2025, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) updated the Candidate List of Substances of Very High Concern (SVHCs), adding three new substances. The total now reaches 250 substances, spanning 33 update rounds. These additions are due to concerns over very persistent, very bioaccumulative (vPvB) properties or reproductive toxicity.

A public consultation on Decabromodiphenyl Ethane (DBDPE) is scheduled from June 27 to August 11, 2025. If accepted, this brominated flame retardant will be added to the SVHC Candidate List, expanding the scope of regulatory control.
