What Is Walmart JQMP?

Walmart JQMP stands for the Joint Quality Management Program. Under JQMP, certified factories may conduct assigned product inspections through qualified internal QC personnel. This can reduce the frequency of third-party inspections at participating factories

How Does JQMP Self-Inspection Work?

A JQMP self-inspection is conducted by a qualified internal QC inspector who has completed the required program training.

The inspection process has three stages:

1. Before inspection
2. During inspection
3. After inspection

The factory must verify the assigned order information, complete the inspection on the scheduled date and submit the report within the required timeframe.

Before the Inspection

Before beginning the inspection, the factory should compare the booking information with the assigned inspection report.

Important information to check includes:

• Request ID
• Purchase order number
• Order quantity
• Vendor stock number
• Factory or supplier information
• Scheduled inspection date

Any discrepancy should be reported to the relevant inspection program contact before the inspection begins.

If the inspection report needs to be split or combined due to the product categories or other issues, the factory should contact the relevant inspection program promptly.

Once an inspection assignment has been issued, changes to the inspection details or the addition of a new purchase order may require a new booking.

During the Inspection

The self-inspection must be conducted by a qualified internal QC inspector who has completed the required JQMP training.

The inspector follows the applicable inspection procedures, checks the products according to the assigned requirements and accurately records the inspection findings.[2]

After the Inspection

After completing the inspection, the factory must submit the inspection report and any applicable supporting documents through the designated reporting channel within the required timeframe.

The report must include a final inspection result, such as PASS, FAIL or ABORTIVE. Suppliers should follow the reporting instructions provided for the relevant inspection assignment.

JQMP Self-Inspection and Third-Party Inspection

JQMP allows a participating factory to conduct assigned inspections using qualified internal QC personnel. A third-party inspection is conducted by an independent inspection provider.

The program may reduce the number of third-party inspections performed at participating factories. The applicable inspection arrangement is communicated for the relevant order. 

Walmart’s public supplier requirements state that suppliers must complete required audits, inspections and tests according to Walmart policy and provide the results to Walmart.
